Common questions
What It Costs to Get It Sorted
How do quotes work?
We size up the job, either over the phone or on site, then give you a written price before anything starts. Quotes are free and there's no call-out fee. If something changes once we're into the wall or roof cavity, we stop, explain it, and get your OK before the price moves.
What does '$50 off your first service' cover?
New customers get $50 off their first job with us, whether that's a quick repair or a bigger install. It comes straight off the price on your invoice. No minimum spend and nothing to chase up afterwards.
Do prices change once you start?
No. The price we quote is the price you pay, agreed in writing before we start. The only time it moves is if you ask us to add extra work once we're on site, and even then we'll confirm the new figure first.
How do I pay?
Card, bank transfer or cash, whatever suits you. Payment is due once the work's finished and signed off. You'll get an invoice that matches the quote you agreed to.
Common questions
Licensed, Insured and Done Properly
Can I do my own electrical work in NSW?
No. DIY electrical work is illegal in NSW for anything beyond changing a light globe or a standard fuse. Wiring, switchboards and power points all need a licensed electrician, both for your safety and because unlicensed work can void your home insurance.
What brands do you install?
We fit premium gear only: Clipsal, Hager, SAL and Beacon Lighting switches, powerpoints and fittings. Not cheap imports that fail in a few years, and not unbranded stock picked because it was cheapest that week.
What is AS/NZS 3000?
It's the Australian wiring standard every electrician has to work to. It covers how circuits are run and what protection your switchboard needs. It's also what we test every job against before we call it finished.
What is a Certificate of Compliance and do I get one?
Yes, on every job that needs one. It's the official paperwork confirming the electrical work meets AS/NZS 3000 and was done by a licensed electrician. Worth keeping for insurance, and for when you sell.
Common questions
Response Times and Booking
How do I book?
Call (02) 9073 7836 or fill in the form on this site and a member of our local team gets back to you, not a call centre. We'll ask a few questions about the job and lock in a time that suits.
How soon can you fit me in?
Often same or next day for standard bookings, depending how busy the diary is when you call. For a genuine electrical emergency, sparking, burning smells or no power, we prioritise you straight away.
How fast can you get here?
That depends where you are and what's already booked in, but genuine emergencies don't wait. For non-urgent jobs we'll give you a realistic window when you call, rather than a vague promise.
Do you work weekends?
We do, for bookings and emergencies both. Weekday jobs are easiest to lock in ahead of time. If Saturday works better for your household, just say so when you call and we'll find a slot.
Common questions
Local to Collaroy
What suburbs do you service?
Collaroy is home turf, and we're regularly working in Narrabeen, Dee Why, Cromer, Brookvale and Narraweena as well. Just outside one of those, call and ask anyway, we still might be able to help.
Do you know Collaroy's housing stock?
Yes. A lot of the housing dates from the 1940s through to the 1980s, brick or fibro built up the rise back from the sand, with newer unit blocks lining Pittwater Road itself. Boards from that era were built for a fraction of today's load, so it's usually the earliest item on our list when a switchboard's showing its age.
How local are you, really?
We're on Pittwater Road and around the beach most weeks, not passing through for one job then gone. It's home turf for our team, and every job here gets the same fixed pricing and guarantee as anywhere else we work.
Do you work on heritage/strata properties?
Yes. Collaroy has heritage-listed buildings, including Arlington Hall, home to the Collaroy Services Beach Club, and plenty of strata blocks along the beachfront. We work with body corporates and strata managers the same way we work with homeowners: fixed quote, sign-off paperwork, tidy job.
